From the first commercial launch in 2009 to over 30 boats at the 2014 Miami International Boat Show, SureShade celebrates tremendous industry growth in 5 years [INCLUDES HIGHLIGHTS VIDEO]
Each year of the SureShade story has been amazing – and 2014 is certainly a year to celebrate.
The 2014 Miami International Boat Show featured our biggest display yet of boat manufacturers offering a factory installed retractable sunshade by SureShade with over 30 boats – setting a new record (yet again) from the 23 boats on display just a few months ago at the 2013 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show.
This year’s Miami show also marks another milestone for SureShade as the 5th anniversary of our first commercial launch at the 2009 Miami Boat Show. And we couldn’t be more proud of what this start-up marine business has been able to accomplish in just 5 short years.
It all started with the 2009 debut of Boston Whaler’s 370 Outrage – a groundbreaking new boat design that offered a stand-out feature the industry had never seen before… a fully automated retractable sunshade system. They have since launched 5 Boston Whaler models with our shade.
Other manufacturers quickly got on board, recognizing that this new innovative design offered a seamless way to offer more shade without compromising design aesthetics of a boat. And the transformation of how the industry thinks about incorporating shade into a boat’s design began!
Fast forward to 2014, and the SureShade retractable sunshade system has now become the new shade standard for boats.
2014 Miami Boat Show Highlights
With over 30 boats the SureShade team had a lot of ground to cover at the show (and docks to walk). We saw many familiar models showcasing our shade, along with several highly anticipated new models making a debut at the show with our shade as a factory installed option or feature.
NEW Sea Ray 650 Fly and 650 Sundancer
Sea Ray adds 2 new boat models to the SureShade portfolio (following the 510 Sundancer and 350 SLX) by offering our automated shade on their new 650 Fly and 650 Sundancer.
The 650 Fly displayed at the show is the first bridge style boat to offer a factory-installed shade – and boaters definitely need the shade when they are so close to the sun on the bridge of the 650 Fly.
NEW Sabre Yachts 54 Salon Express and Back Cove Yachts 41
Sabre and Back Cove Yachts held a press event debuting two new models now offering factory installation of our automated shade – the redesigned Sabre 54 SE (with our shade as standard) and the all new Back Cove 41.
Back Cove also displayed their new Downeast 37 with our automated shade as a standard feature.
NEW Carver Yachts C37 Coupe
SureShade was excited to welcome Carver Yachts to our OEM portfolio with the launch of their much anticipated new C37 Coupe. The C37 features a fully integrated automated shade with fiberglass end cap that allows the shade to virtually disappear into the hardtop – making it a seamless addition to the boat’s design.
Sunbrella Displays SureShade
In addition to the many boats featuring our shade at the show, Sunbrella showcased a full size version of our shade system as part of their booth display inside the convention center.
In an effort to demonstrate an innovative application of their marine fabric, the groundbreaking display featured a wall mural of the new Grand Banks 50 Eastbay SX with a shade extending from the hardtop of the picture (much like the actual boat that offers our shade).
SureShade is proud to feature Sunbrella as the fabric of choice for our shades.
