The story behind the award-winning Shady Side of Boating monthly newsletter devoted to boat builders, dealers and boaters seeking a better sunshade solution
2011 was a big year for SureShade. With so many boats getting on-board with our marine sunshade solution, we decided it was time to put together a monthly e-newsletter to keep everyone up to date with new boat installations, products and special news features.
The clean and simply designed newsletter, The Shady Side of Boating, is devoted to boat builders, dealers and private boat owners interested in learning more about our retractable sunshade systems. A focus on “boater experience” coupled with an ongoing showcase of boat brand installations, The Shady Side of Boating seeks to educate recipients on the evolution of marine sunshade as a high-tech option that enhances the boating lifestyle.
Within only a few months of launching our newsletter, SureShade was delighted to receive top honors in the “Best Digital Newsletter” category of the 2011 Neptune Marketing Awards held by the Marine Marketers of America.
The Shady Side of Boating newsletter was noted by judges as being selected as the winner based on its simplicity, its focus on boaters’ experience and a great integration of social media.
SureShade uses iContact, a leading email and social media marketing service, to create and distribute the monthly newsletter. Social media integration tools with iContact allow us to easily share the newsletter with a wider audience through the SureShade Twitter account and our SureShade Facebook page.
SureShade also taps into iContact’s tracking capabilities to measure which features are most popular with recipients – steering content for future issues.
We are thrilled to be recognized by industry peers for our newsletter – and collect an award for the second consecutive year. In addition to SureShade’s 2011 Best Digital Newsletter award, SureShade won a 2010 Neptune Award in the Best National Print Advertisement category last year for their “Experience the Shady Side of Boating” ad in Boston Whaler Magazine. (Yes, we like the “Shady” theme!)
